Hydrogen Sulfide

Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless and toxic acid gas . It is the simplest  one of the hydrogenation of sulfur. It belongs to inorganic compounds. There is no obvious odor when high concentration. There is a sulfur flavor,which is a by -product of many industrial products.For example,it is produced in natural gas refining,oil refining,wastewater treament and papermaking industry. It can also occur through the decomposition of organic of organic matter in nature and metabolic activities of certain creatures.The density of hydrogen sulfide is greater than slightly greater than air ,and  it can gather in low-lying areas to form potential dangerous areas.Under low concentrations,it is toxic to the human body, and high -concentration of hydrogen sulfide will be quickly fatal.It inhibits the phosphoric acidization of cells ,hinders the respiratory effect of cells,and causes cell death .

Hydrogen sulfide is irritating to the eyes, respiratory and nervous systems. When exposed to low concentration, it may cause eye irritation, headache, cough and breathing difficulties.

Hydrogen sulfide can be dissolved in water, and it is also easily dissolved in alcohol and petroleum solvents. In addition, hydrogen sulfide can form an explosive mixture with the air, which can cause burning or even explosion when it encounters bright fire or high heat.

In industrial applications, hydrogen sulfide is used for the flotation process of sulfide ore, and it is also an important raw material for producing sulfur and sulfuric acid. In addition, in the experiment, it is used as an analysis reagent, such as in the qualitative analysis of heavy metal ions. However, due to its high toxicity and corrosiveness, the treatment of hydrogen sulfide requires strict safety measures, including good ventilation, and uses personal protective equipment and installation gas detectors to prevent accidental leakage.
